Yoga as optional subject in HP schools soon
Shimla Himachal Pradesh is all set to introduce yoga as an optional subject in primary and middle schools from the next academic session.

Services of yoga guru Swami Ramdev will be requisitioned in this connection, Himachal Pradesh Education minister I D Dhiman told PTI here today.

"Yoga as part of an optional subject will be introduced in 15,000 primary and middle schools in the state from the academic session beginning April," he said.

The yoga syllabus for elementary classes (I to V) was being prepared by the Haridwar-based Patanjali Yogapeeth under the guidance of Swami Ramdev, the minister said.

For the middle school (classes VI to VIII), this would be done by the Education Department with the help of Ramdev, he said.

"It is under scrutiny of the academic council now," he said.
